VA Scholarship Grants

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers various education assistance programs and scholarship grants to eligible veterans and their dependents. These programs aim to help individuals pursue higher education and training. Here are some key VA education assistance programs:

  • GI Bill Programs:

    • Post-9/11 GI Bill: Provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001.

    • Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB): Offers education benefits to active duty members who contribute to the program.

  • Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E):

    • Formerly known as the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program, it assists veterans with service-connected disabilities in preparing for, finding, and maintaining suitable employment.

  • Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA):

    • Provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition.

  • Yellow Ribbon Program:

    • A provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, this program allows institutions of higher learning to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the VA to fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the annual maximum cap.

  • Fry Scholarship:

    • Provides education benefits to the children and surviving spouses of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001.

  • Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship:

    • The Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship allows eligible Veterans using the Post-9/11 GI Bill or dependents using the Fry Scholarship to get added benefits. This scholarship provides up to 9 months (or $30,000) of benefits for training in high-demand fields.

  • National Call to Service Program:

    • Offers education benefits for individuals who completed a period of national service, as specified by law.

Many of these scholarships are granted to veterans who are 100% P&T and their dependents.
